Smith Works was formed in 2024 by Sophie Smith.

Sophie began consulting in July 2019 as a copywriter, designer and content creator. She now collaborates with art directors, individual artists, designers, luxury brands, cultural organisations and academic institutions to devise strategies for varied creative projects.

Prior to 2019, Sophie worked in public relations and communication, initially for a London daily newspaper and later for arts, architecture and design organisations. From 2011 to 2018, she worked with the late Professor William Alsop OBE RA, helping to form his multidisciplinary studio, aLL Design, in 2012.

Sophie graduated from UAL with a BA (Hons) degree and her early career as a costume and set designer spanned 15 years. She freelanced for BBC Television, the National Theatre, Channel 4, the Arts Council, Walt Disney Theatrical, the British Council and New Millennium Experience Company, NMEC (The Millennium Dome).

Sophie taught English as a foreign language with the British Council in Cairo (2010-2011) and has since studied English literature, creative writing and in 2023, the history of Late Medieval and Early Modern London (1450 - 1550).

She also practices as a visual artist. Her first group show, Shared Landscapes, took place at Hypha Studios, Hastings, in October 2024.
